Like countless student athletes, my life was significantly impacted by the unyielding dedication and commitment of Mr. Hank Lloyd Tipps Jr. As the most revered Winona Wildcat, he committed himself wholeheartedly to helping us all strive and achieve our dreams and goals.

Mr. Tipps was more than a coach and teacher; he became a crucial pillar of the Winona community through his dedication to uplifting, fostering, and nurturing student athletics. His dedication left a deep imprint on each of us, creating ripples that continue to be felt today. It is not uncommon to hear his former students refer to him as the greatest coach and teacher of all time, a testament to his far-reaching and lasting impact.

We believe it is only fitting that the current Winona Wildcat Football Stadium, which is currently under new construction; bears the name of one who did so much for its students, its athletics, and the community. To dedicate the stadium to Mr. Hank Lloyd Tipps Jr. would be more than just a symbolic act. It would go a long way towards celebrating his legacy, acknowledging his contributions, and ensuring that his spirit lives on in the heart of every game.

By renaming the stadium the Hank Tipps Memorial Stadium, we formally recognize his invaluable contributions, and the enormous difference he made in countless lives. From memorizing Shakespeare, to the poem IF by Kipling, or the precise way to run “set right-24 Blast” a well known football play of his, Coach is a permanent fixture in our memories of this school and Community!!
