Taking the battle to the personal front, I bring this matter close to my heart. If the President of the United States could rebrand the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America, I firmly believe that it is only fitting that the same principle should be applied to the District of Columbia and it should be renamed as the District of America.

Currently, our nation's capital is colloquially referred to as 'DC'. However, DC represents the 'District of Columbia' - a name that has been in place since the creation of the federal district in 1790. For many, including myself, this name no longer fully represents our national identity, which is unquestionably American.

Our objective is not simply about eradicating an old name but reinforcing the essence of national pride that resonates with every citizen of this great country - America. This transition is not unprecedented. Throughout history, name changes of cities and regions have occurred to better reflect the region's current state or to shed past associations. In our case, a move towards 'District of America' would embody a more united and inclusive national identity.

This isn't simply a casual suggestion, but a significant step towards fostering American unity and celebrating our unique identity as a nation—by adorning our nation's capital with a name that truly represents every one of us. We aren't asking for a drastic change, but one that is rightfully due.
