Rename 'The White Cliffs of Dover' to 'The Ellen White Cliffs of Dover

The Issue

This petition is for the National Trust to change the name of 'The White Cliffs of Dover' to 'The Ellen White Cliffs of Dover', for the duration of UEFA Women's EURO England 2022 (6th - 31st July).  We also want to lobby the Dover District Council and the White Cliffs Countryside Partnership on the name change.

On Wednesday 6th July 2022, the England women's national football team, the Lionesses, kick off their Euro 2022 campaign against Austria at the Theatre of Dreams: Old Trafford. As the floodlights switch on, the hopes of a nation will be with Sarina Wiegman’s side, who are second favourites to win this summer's prestigious silverware.

Ellen White, the England women's team Forward, received her first senior England cap in 2010 and has scored 50 goals in just 105 international appearances. In her domestic career, White is one of the most decorated English footballers, lifting 10 trophies in the past twelve years.

We want to celebrate England’s football - shining a beacon on women's football and showcasing the amazing sporting talent we have within England. It will also highlight an inspirational female role model at one of England's most famous coastlines and gateway to our country.

This is why we we want the National Trust to change the name of 'The White Cliffs of Dover' to 'The Ellen White Cliffs of Dover', temporarily.
