The Issue

On December 10th, 2016, my life changed forever when my beloved sister was tragically and senselessly murdered. As her grieving sibling, I have witnessed first-hand the deep sorrow and injustice that gun violence leaves in its wake. My sister's death was not just another statistic  it was the heart wrenching loss of a loved and vibrant soul, someone who was taken from us far too soon.

In honor of her memory and to raise awareness about the devastating impact of gun violence, I am calling for the renaming of the street upon which she was killed. This simple yet meaningful act would not only commemorate her life but also serve as a constant reminder of the urgent need to address and curtail gun-related crimes. By changing the street name to reflect her legacy, we hope to foster a community spirit bound by hope, remembrance, and action against violence.

Gun violence is a pervasive issue, claiming countless lives and tearing families apart across the nation. The need for change is undeniable, and by renaming this street, we can make a stand in our local community, ensuring that my sister’s story and the stories of many others are not forgotten.

I urge local authorities to consider this petition seriously, taking into account the emotional and symbolic significance that such a gesture holds for our family and the broader community. Your support can help turn our mourning into a movement for positive change.

Please sign this petition to honour my sister and support our call for a permanent, physical tribute that stands against the violence that took her life. Together, we can bring light to a tragic event and strive for a safer, more loving community.
