Growing up in Lynn, the Saugus River has always been a significant and prominent part of our lives. Its rhythmic ebb and flow symbolize the heartbeat of our great city. As proud residents, we believe that a river which has been so central to our city's identity deserves to bear the name of our home: Lynn.

Presently, the Saugus River, stretches from its source in Lynn, through to Saugus, feeding into the Atlantic Ocean. It maintains significant historical and ecological importance, hosting diverse species of fish and playing an integral role in the preservation of local wetlands (EPA, 2013).

Still, its name does not do justice to the depth of its relationship with the city of Lynn. Renaming the river to the Lynn River can serve as a tribute to the city's rich heritage and its vibrant residents. It is an opportunity to bring the community closer to its natural landmarks.
