The Issue

Tony Parkes was more than just a name in the history books of Blackburn Rovers. For decades, he was the heartbeat of the club—a legendary figure fondly referred to as 'Mr Blackburn Rovers'. It is with heavy hearts that we mourn his passing on 23 April 2026, but his legacy might live on if we take a moment to immortalise his contribution by renaming the 'Riverside Stand' to the 'Tony Parkes Riverside Stand'.

Working tirelessly behind the scenes, Tony Parkes was our 'Break Glass in Case of Emergency' hero. He graciously stepped up six times as caretaker manager, each time without ego or hesitation. Tony was pivotal not only in times of crisis but also played an essential role during Blackburn Rovers’ Premier League winning season. His presence was synonymous with stability and heartfelt commitment to the club.

Renaming the Riverside Stand in his honor is a modest yet meaningful way to express our gratitude. It would serve as a constant reminder of the unwavering loyalty and passion Tony dedicated to Blackburn Rovers. A name that could inspire future generations to embody the same spirit and commitment he demonstrated every step of the way.

This petition is more than about renaming a stand—it's about securing a lasting tribute to a man who became the cornerstone of our football family. By lending your support, we can urge the Blackburn Rovers management to recognize the immense contributions of Tony Parkes.
