It was recently announced that the Miami Heat’s arena will no longer be called American Airlines Arena, and that Miami-Dade County is in charge of negotiating the new name for the building. 

This petition urges Miami-Dade County to refrain from going with a national corporation, and instead select a name that truly represents the 305: Flanigan’s Center.  

By naming the building Flanigan’s Center, Miami will send a message to the world that we are more than just an international icon; we are a unified city with a proud local culture. 

More importantly, all beverages at the arena will be served in iconic Flanigan’s cups, and the color scheme for the cups will match the Heat’s uniforms for each game. Special edition Heat Vice cups will also have Pat Riley’s face on them instead of Mr. Flanigan’s.
