Rename the Job Title of Carpenter to 'Wood Man'

Rename the Job Title of Carpenter to 'Wood Man'
The Issue
I have always found the term 'carpenter' confusing. Why should someone who works meticulously with wood be confused with a worker who lays carpets? It's a personal matter to me, and I believe it is an issue that must be addressed. We propose that the term 'carpenter' be changed to 'Wood Man', a title more representative of the work actually performed.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are over 1.5 million people working as carpenters in the U.S. (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2019). These individuals deserve a job title that accurately portrays their trade. By renaming the role to 'Wood Man', we are not only reducing confusion but we are also amplifying the value and skill involved in this craft-based work.
The industry and its trade titles should not confuse, but clear and straightforward. Join us in requesting the appropriate authorities to consider this change. Help us ensure the dignity of their craft is recognized in their title. Please, sign this petition.
