Change the name of Tehran's Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKIA) to Mahsa Amini International Airport.

Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish Iranian was killed on 16 September 2022 while in the custody of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s morality police, having been accused of nonconformity with Islamic Republic hijab laws.

All changed, changed utterly.

Rename Tehran's Imam Khomeini International Airport in memory of Mahsa Amini and the many others who have been repressed, tortured and killed at the hands of a brutal regime.

In the post-Islamic Republic era, Mahsa Amini International Airport will be the gateway for citizens, the Iranian diaspora, and tourists from across the world. It will stand ready to welcome people to a diverse, vibrant and inclusive country, built on the principle of self-determination. A country of equality, of opportunity, and of hopes and dreams. 

Actions we can take now to adopt the new name

1. Begin to use the name 'Mahsa Amini International Airport' as the de facto name of Tehran International Airport so that use of the name can spread organically by members of the public. 

2. Request that Google Maps change the name of the airport to 'Mahsa Amini International Airport'.

Once approved, the name changing process will follow a standard procedure, which involves gaining approval for International Air Transport Association (IATA) location codes, which are approved by the IATA based in Montreal, Canada.
