કચ્છની આસ્થા, કચ્છની ઓળખ!
કચ્છની પવિત્ર ધરતી અને તેની સમૃદ્ધ સંસ્કૃતિ સાથે મા આશાપુરાનું નામ અતૂટ રીતે જોડાયેલું છે. કચ્છના લાખો શ્રદ્ધાળુઓ માટે મા આશાપુરા માત્ર આરાધ્ય દેવી જ નહીં, પરંતુ શ્રદ્ધા, આસ્થા અને કચ્છની આગવી ઓળખનું પ્રતીક છે.
મા આશાપુરાના પવિત્ર નામને રેલવેના માધ્યમથી દેશભરમાં ઓળખ મળે અને કચ્છની ધાર્મિક તથા સાંસ્કૃતિક વિરાસતને વિશેષ સ્થાન મળે, એવી કચ્છના નાગરિકોની ભાવના છે.
ટ્રેન કચ્છ સુધી પહોંચી, પરંતુ નામમાં કચ્છની ઓળખ હજુ કેમ નહીં?
મુંબઈ અને ગુજરાત વચ્ચેની મહત્ત્વપૂર્ણ રેલવે સેવા સયાજીનગરી એક્સપ્રેસનું નામ વડોદરાના મહારાજા સયાજીરાવ ગાયકવાડ ત્રીજાની સ્મૃતિ સાથે જોડાયેલું છે. આ ટ્રેન અગાઉ વડોદરા સુધી દોડતી હતી. ત્યારબાદ તેનો વિસ્તાર કરીને કચ્છના ભુજ સુધી લંબાવવામાં આવી હતી.
આજે આ ટ્રેન મુંબઈના દાદર અને ભુજ વચ્ચે ટ્રેન નંબર 20907 અને 20908 તરીકે દોડે છે. ટ્રેનનો રૂટ કચ્છ સુધી વિસ્તર્યો હોવા છતાં તેના નામમાં કચ્છની ઓળખ જોડવાની માંગણી પર જાહેરમાં કોઈ નિર્ણય સામે આવ્યો નથી.
વડોદરાના મહારાજા સયાજીરાવ ગાયકવાડનું ઐતિહાસિક યોગદાન સન્માનને પાત્ર છે. આ અભિયાન તેમના યોગદાનનો અનાદર કરવાનો નથી. પરંતુ ટ્રેન આજે જે પ્રદેશ સુધી સેવા આપે છે, તે પ્રદેશની ઓળખ અને જનભાવનાને પણ નામકરણમાં સ્થાન મળવું જોઈએ, એવી અમારી લાગણી છે.

કચ્છની આરાધ્ય દેવી મા આશાપુરાના નામ પરથી ટ્રેનનું નામ “MAA ASHAPURA EXPRESS” રાખવામાં આવે તેવી અમારી વિનમ્ર પરંતુ પ્રબળ માંગણી છે.
આ નામકરણથી કચ્છની ધાર્મિક આસ્થા, સાંસ્કૃતિક વારસો અને પ્રાદેશિક ઓળખને રાષ્ટ્રીય સ્તરે વધુ પ્રોત્સાહન મળશે. દેશના વિવિધ વિસ્તારોમાંથી કચ્છ આવનારા મુસાફરો માટે પણ મા આશાપુરાનું નામ કચ્છની આગવી ઓળખનું પ્રતીક બની શકે છે.
અમારી મુખ્ય માંગણીઓ
1. ટ્રેન નંબર 20907 (દાદર–ભુજ) અને 20908 (ભુજ–દાદર) સયાજીનગરી એક્સપ્રેસનું નામ બદલીને “MAA ASHAPURA EXPRESS” રાખવામાં આવે.
2. કચ્છની જનતાની લોકલાગણીને ધ્યાનમાં રાખીને રેલવે મંત્રાલય આ માંગણી અંગે સકારાત્મક વિચારણા કરે.
3. કચ્છના નાગરિકો, રેલવે મુસાફરો, ધાર્મિક સંસ્થાઓ, સામાજિક સંગઠનો અને લોકપ્રતિનિધિઓનાં સૂચનોને યોગ્ય સ્થાન આપવામાં આવે.
4. નામ બદલવા માટેની સત્તાવાર પ્રક્રિયા હાથ ધરીને નિર્ણય અંગે જાહેર જનતાને જાણ કરવામાં આવે.

Maa Ashapura holds a deeply revered place in the religious, cultural and historical traditions of Kutch, Gujarat. For countless devotees, she is not merely a deity but a symbol of faith, hope and the distinctive identity of the region.
Naming a major railway service after Maa Ashapura would be a meaningful way to recognise the cultural heritage and devotional sentiments associated with Kutch.
The train now serves Kutch. Why should its name not reflect Kutch's identity?
Sayajinagari Express is named in honour of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III of Baroda. The train originally operated up to Vadodara and was subsequently extended to Bhuj, in Kutch.
Today, Train No. 20907 operates from Dadar to Bhuj, while Train No. 20908 operates in the return direction from Bhuj to Dadar.
Despite the extension of this railway service to Kutch, the name continues to retain its original association with Baroda. The people of Kutch believe that the region's cultural identity and public sentiments also deserve consideration in the naming of a train that serves their region.
This appeal does not seek to diminish the historical contributions of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III, whose legacy deserves respect. Rather, it seeks recognition for Kutch's own cultural heritage and the devotion of its people towards Maa Ashapura.
Our Request: MAA ASHAPURA EXPRESS
We respectfully request the Ministry of Railways to consider renaming Sayajinagari Express as “MAA ASHAPURA EXPRESS”, in recognition of the revered deity of Kutch.
Such a name would celebrate the region's faith, cultural heritage and distinctive identity, while introducing Maa Ashapura's name to railway passengers travelling from different parts of India.
Our Key Demands
