On July 29, 2021 our community lost a valued member, Tyler M.  Cox.

His death rattled our community, however it created a need to discuss mental health, addiction, and the opioid crisis.

Tyler was a valuable member of our community, taken too soon.  The love he shared for this City, his family and friends lives on.  This park already hosts a bench bearing his name.

Renaming the park is a substantial first step toward tackling this crisis as a community.  The name “River Street Park” invokes a physical location, while our proposed renaming  exemplifies the love of a community, a reminder that life should not be taken for granted, and our need for change.
