I have a deep appreciation for Frankston and often find myself questioning, "Who's Philip anyway?" In this spirit, I propose that we rename Port Phillip Bay to Bay Of Frankston. Port Phillip Bay, currently named after the first governor of New South Wales, Arthur Phillip, has a rich history tied to the indigenous Australians who’ve lived on this land for over 40,000 years prior to British colonisation. However, we find ourselves in a time where change is not only needed, but celebrated. It’s time to bring the name home - to give credit to a place that has always been a tremendous part of Victoria's picturesque coast. It's not about erasing history, but about writing a future chapter that respects and acknowledges the growth and evolution of our community.
