Dont Fret Park needs a few more minutes of your time to become reality

The Chicago Park District Board of Commissioners has opened a 45-day public comment period, beginning September 9, 2026, inviting comments on the proposed renaming of Park #567 at 1801 N. Milwaukee Ave. to Dont Fret Park.

The proposed naming of Dont Fret Park has the support of the Wicker Park/Bucktown Chamber of Commerce, the Bucktown Community Organization, Wicker Park Advisory Council, and 1st Ward Alderman Daniel La Spata among others.

As signers of our successful petition to initiate the park naming process, we ask you now to write a short statement of support for the new Dont Fret Park. This is an essential part of the civic process that will help give the Park District Commissioners a clear understanding of the strong community support for Dont Fret Park.

What to do:

1. Read the informative Chicago Park District webpage at the following address:

2. Address correspondence to General Superintendent Ramirez-Rosa and the Chicago Park District Board Commissioners.

3. At a minimum, please state clearly that you support changing the designated name of Park #567 to Dont Fret Park. If possible, please add a few sentences about why Dont Fret Park would be meaningful to you personally—or to the Wicker Park/Bucktown community, or Chicago's visual arts community, or the city as a whole. A personal memory, connection, or reflection can be especially powerful.

4. Deliver your statement or letter to the Park District in one of the following two ways:
