I have spoken to a local news station and if we get to 300 signatures they will most likely do a feature story on our efforts. Unfortunately, we haven't been immune to push back from people who are letting the hate in their hearts get the best of them. Even with all the supporting reasons Jesse Owens would make a great namesake for the high school, there are some influential members of the alumni association who are looking to stifle the efforts simply because Jesse Owens was a black man. Thankfully, the love is outweighing the hate and we are on our way to 300 signatures. But we need your help! If everyone here makes a push to get just one person they know to sign, we will meet our goal!

P.S. The CMSD Board attorney emailed us saying that they will not be discussing the new name at today's business meeting. They are going to schedule a meeting specifically for the naming of JFRHS and they will notify us as soon as that is scheduled. We are making waves! We will keep you updated.   #Rams4Life
