Rename Ilford Station after Dame Maggie Smith to "Maggie Smith Station"

Rename Ilford Station after Dame Maggie Smith to "Maggie Smith Station"
The Issue
*This petition is not seeking donations, just signatures*
This story begins in the quaint town of Ilford, United Kingdom, where Margaret Natalie Smith, better known to us as "Maggie Smith," was born. A woman of immense talent and fierce determination, Maggie rose through the ranks to become a distinguished and respected figure in the entertainment industry. Her significant contributions in British arts and role as strong female leads has not only brought joy to many but also brought to light the power and influence of women, paving the way for future female artists. For International Women's Day in 2026, it is pertinent to honor and commemorate the positive impact she had on the world. Dame Maggie Smith passed in September 2024.
It is with this significance, we propose to rename a tube station, along the Elizabeth Line, in her honor recognizing her legacy, and serving as a constant reminder to the public of her valuable contributions. This gesture will serve as a beacon, inspiring future generations and celebrating women’s achievements across all fields. Join this campaign to commemorate Maggie Smith's impact on millions around the world and let her legacy continue to inspire and influence. Sign this petition and let her name live on in the heartbeat of the city she once called home and her birthplace.
Your support is hugely appreciated. London is a global city, and signatures are welcome from around the globe, to serve as a marker of Maggie Smith's impact. Please share your reason for signing if you would like - this can help inspire others and any special stories you may have are valued.
Sharing this petition with people may bring joy like it has to us starting this! The aim is simple and this is a grass roots petition. You may wish to include people whom you may have enjoyed Downton with or have special memories associated with Maggie Smith from her career. Thank you in advance for considering sharing this with those around you.
