On September 22, 2026, our beloved fifth-grade teacher, Ms. Hannah Jorgensen, showcased the epitome of courage and selflessness in a tragic incident. While on a field trip by the local river, one of our classmates accidentally fell into a dangerous spillway. Without hesitating, Ms. Jorgensen  leapt into action, sacrificing her own safety to save her student. Her heroic and selfless act ended in tragedy, as she lost her life while striving to protect that of her student's.

Ms. Jorgensen wasn’t just a teacher; she was a beacon of kindness, courage, and inspiration for everyone at Borloug Elementary. She dedicated countless hours to ensuring each student felt valued and supported, going beyond the call of duty time and time again. Her dedication extended beyond the classroom into after-school activities and community events, always championing children’s growth and development. Her heroic act reflects the depth of her commitment and love for her students.

In light of her remarkable bravery and dedication to her students, it is only fitting that we honor her legacy in a lasting and meaningful way. Renaming Borloug Elementary School after Ms. Hannah Jorgensen is a tribute to her heroism and the impact she had on our community. It will forever remind students and faculty of her legacy and inspire generations to come with her values of bravery and selflessness.
