Has Dolly Parton Airport embarrassed Birmingham Airport?

Leading PR and communications expert Andy Barr certainly thinks so, and has not been shy in saying that 'Birmingham has backed itself into a corner and I can only guess its CEO feels like changing his mind now would represent some form of losing face'.

He also laid into them on LinkedIn yesterday,  saying 'the movement is growing and their tired and very British approach to being the fun-handbrake got blown out of the water by Dolly Parton International being announced last week'

This isn't anything new to any of us, but it's great to see somone so influential in this field telling it how it is.

For what it's worth, I don't think doing a 180 on this is embarrassing at all - we all make mistakes and I've no doubt Nick Barton, Birmingham Airport CEO is a nice guy who means well and believed what he was saying at the time. But events in Nashville have shown that this argument is no longer credible and so we need a rethink. (see our full statement here)
