Removing level 3 sex offender from town employment immediately and demand accountability
The Issue
Petition: Remove Level 3 Sex Offender from Town Employment & Demand Accountability
We, the undersigned residents of Woodstock New York, are demanding immediate action from Town Supervisor Bill McKenna regarding the dangerous and negligent hiring of a Level 3 registered sex offender into the town’s maintenance department.
This individual was convicted of:
Drugging and raping a woman who could not consent while also videoing him violently raping her.
Possessing child sexual abuse materials involving an 11-year-old girl
Level 3 status means the offender is considered at high risk of reoffending. Despite this, the Town Supervisor has chosen to prioritize his personal belief in “second chances” over the legal classification, safety of the community, and basic public trust.
The supervisor’s defense—that people should “get to know him before judging”—ignores the serious threat posed by this individual and dismisses the reality of trauma for survivors.
We are calling for:
The immediate termination of the individual’s employment with the town
A public explanation and apology from the Town Supervisor
A formal review of town hiring practices and transparency going forward
An ethics investigation into this decision
This is not about politics. This is about protecting our community—especially women, children, and the vulnerable. We demand accountability.
