Loveland, Colorado, as a community is deeply engaged in bettering the town. The town is growing at an astonishing rate with downtown being refurnished, housing developments, and a roaring art community. One development that has come with this growth though is the installation of at least 65 flock cameras. These flock cameras pose serious Fourth Amendment concerns because they represent an unacceptable intrusion on privacy and need to be removed swiftly. An America where companies like flock are allowed to conduct widespread surveillance of American citizens is an America where our liberties are dangerously in question. When Flock cameras are positioned outside of Thompson Valley high school, Loveland high school, and Mountain View High school there are major privacy concerns over the data collection of adolescents. Public policy in Loveland should come from residents like us, not a surveillance company that has been found to track citizens without the permission of the authorities. Therefore, we must legally remove the flock cameras through petitioning to the Loveland city council and Mayor Patrick Mcfall that the residents who elected them are fed up with their privacy being breached. Each signature will signal that the contract Loveland has with Flock is unacceptable. Outside of Change.org there will be active canvassing for signatures in Loveland.
