The Issue

My daughter recently tripped over an extension cord someone is running across the city sidewalk, and dislocated her knee. Despite reporting the incident, law enforcement has not taken any action. It frustrates me, as I believe this poses a safety hazard to everyone using the sidewalks. Nobody should have to worry about getting injured from tripping over a cord when walking on public property.

This situation extends beyond just a safety issue. The individual responsible is living in their vehicle, parked in the same spot for extended periods of time, and runs these cords six days a week. The vehicle’s continued presence and use of public resources without appropriate oversight contradicts the communal responsibility of our neighborhood. Taxpayers, including property owners like myself who pay taxes to maintain our street, should not have to bear the cost or inconvenience of someone residing in their vehicle in this manner.

Immediate action is necessary to protect pedestrians and ensure fair use of community resources. I urge the relevant authorities to address this issue by removing individuals residing in their vehicles who pose safety risks or misuse public utilities and spaces. Please sign this petition to demand swift intervention and ensure our community remains safe and equitable for all residents.
