Remove unnecessary electric vehicle charging stations at The Reserve Northgate complex
The Issue
Living in a community with limited parking spaces can be extremely challenging, especially when you have more tenants than available spots. This is the reality many of us face in our Northgate Complex. Imagine coming home after a long shift, only to realize that you have to park at the nearby shopping center, just because a space you could have parked in is reserved for electric vehicle charging. Now you have to walk a distant walk in the cold, rain, or soon to be snow.
Electric vehicles have dedicated charging parking spaces, but what about the rest of us? I drive a gas vehicle and I don’t have a reserved spot next to a fuel pump. Furthermore, non-electric vehicles parked in these spaces are subject to being towed, resulting in unnecessary stress and inconvenience. It doesn’t seem fair that we have to endure this, and it’s time for a change.
Our community’s parking dilemma is exacerbated by the fact that units with assigned parking spaces cannot rotate without physically trading parking permits. This impractical arrangement especially affects those of us on different schedules, like myself who works nights and needs flexibility. The simple solution would be to allow tenants to rotate vehicles within their assigned spaces without cumbersome logistics.
On top of the parking aftermath, a new project our landlord owns is affecting our living conditions further by not adhering to noise ordinances. Even if they have a special permit (which is never posted in a conspicuous place), no notice is provided to us warning of the soon to be extended work period. Construction activities often extend into late hours or waking people up in the early mornings, robbing many residents of a peaceful and quiet environment, and further impacting our quality of life.
We need your support in addressing these issues. We propose the removal of the electric vehicle charging stations occupying critical parking spaces and ensuring that new building projects strictly adhere to local noise ordinances. This will restore fairness and tranquility in our neighborhood.
