Remove the "zero tolerance" stance on headphones at Divine Child High School
Remove the "zero tolerance" stance on headphones at Divine Child High School
The Issue
Divine Child High School has recently changed its Cell Phone/Electronic Device(s) Policy to restrict headphone use everywhere without teacher permission. On paper, this would be a good way to prevent students from being distracted during school hours. However, this change fails to acknowledge the student populous that suffers from anxiety and or noise sensitivity.
For a majority of students, the use of headphones can help reduce the stress that comes with being a student. For others with auditory disorders, it can help alleviate the pain that comes with a noisy hallway. To summarize, proper use of headphones can rapidly improve the welfare of a student.
Allowing the use of headphones outside of class time is extremely important as we are about to see the consequences of removing them when school starts. Please sign this petition to show DC the benefits they are about to destroy.
