Remove the xL Bully Ban and Implement Mandatory Licensing for Dog Owners

The Issue

As a deeply concerned citizen, I have witnessed the devastating effects of the xL bully ban in our community. Since its implementation, more dogs are being abused/ murdered  or abandoned by their owners. It's heartbreaking to see innocent animals suffer due to irresponsible ownership. The government and public need to understand that it's not the dogs who are at fault but rather their owners.

In 2019 alone, thousands of healthy and happy dogs were put down for no reason other than breed-specific legislation (source: RSPCA). This is not just an issue in the U.K., but it resonates globally as well. It's time we stop blaming innocent creatures for human failings.

The solution lies not in banning breeds but in holding owners accountable for their pets' behavior. We propose a mandatory licensing system for dog owners that will ensure they are responsible and capable of caring properly for these animals.

This law needs rethinking - replacing breed-specific bans with owner licenses would be a step towards ensuring animal welfare while also addressing public safety concerns effectively.

We urge you to consider this proposal seriously - let us stop punishing innocent animals and start holding people accountable instead. Please sign this petition if you believe in justice for all creatures great and small.

let’s get this to parliament and let’s get them to rethink this bad idea.

unfortunately since the ban a lot of dogs have been killed all innocent and because they “ look like an xL “  we should not stand by and allow this to happen
