We, the undersigned, express our deep concern regarding the equity and health implications of the cell phone tower at Daly Elementary School. Daly is uniquely burdened as the only elementary school in Montgomery County with such a tower. Not only is this tower extremely close to our playground, MCPS is currently considering an expansion of this tower through the installation of gas lines and above ground diesel storage tanks as well as a new multi-year lease in 2026. Daly Elementary school is no place for an industrialized school yard! 
 
Notably, a Montgomery County court case documented an MCPS Board of Education policy prohibiting cell phone towers on elementary school grounds. When such installations are to be considered, Montgomery County Public School's cell tower policy, the Telecommunications Transmissions Facilities ECN, mandates community and parental involvement in decisions about those cell towers. Historically, MCPS spokespersons have asserted, "If a school and community do not want a tower, they do not get one." Despite this, the objections of Daly ES parents and the surrounding community were disregarded, and the tower was erected against their wishes. Yet again our community is being ignored as decisions are made and deals are brokered in secret.  
 
We call upon the Montgomery County Board of Education to cease any and all expansion of the cell tower site and issue an immediate non-renewal notice to the tower lease holder. 
 
Together we are fighting for our children, our school and our community.  Our voices deserve to be heard and valued equally.
