Remove the Two-Hour Minimum Charge in Milton Keynes Purple Parking Zones

The Issue

Milton Keynes should be a place where quick errands and short visits are easy—not something you get penalised for. But the council’s new rule forcing a minimum £2 charge for two hours in purple parking zones has made short trips far more expensive.

Residents used to pay 50p for a brief stop and are now charged four times as much, even if they only need 10–20 minutes. This discourages, and prices out, people from popping into the city centre or support local businesses in the area.

The council already makes at least £10,000,000 (£10 million) in profit from parking each year, so this increase isn’t about necessity—it’s about boosting revenue at the expense of residents and visitors.

We’re calling on Milton Keynes Council to remove the two-hour minimum charge and bring back reasonable, fair and  accessible parking for everyone.
