As a concerned resident of Whelalau, I am deeply worried about the safety and well-being of our children and families. Just next door, there is a trailer from which drugs and alcohol are being dealt constantly. This has resulted in a continuous stream of intoxicated individuals coming and going at all hours, posing a threat to the peace and safety of our community.

Our neighbourhood is supposed to be a safe haven for families, where our children can play freely and neighbours can interact without fear. However, the presence of this trailer has shattered that sense of security. Children playing outside should not have to witness or be exposed to such activities, and parents should not have to worry about whom their children may encounter while playing in their own front yards.

Despite numerous reports and requests for intervention, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have taken no substantial action to address this pressing problem. Our calls for help seem to fall on deaf ears, and it feels as though we are being ignored. We have a right to demand more from our local law enforcement, and we call on them to take immediate action to remove this trailer and its illegal activities from our community.

We are not just worried; we are scared for our children’s safety. It’s only a matter of time before something tragic happens if this situation is not addressed with urgency. We need to ensure that Whelalau is a safe and nurturing place for all residents, especially our children, who deserve to grow up in a secure environment.
