Thank you all for your support, excellent work everyone! We have reached 580 signatures! We comfortably outnumber the 450 Hounslow residents who opposed the restriction as respondents to the trial closure (Ealing News).
The next stages of our plan are taking shape and will take time so updates will be less frequent now. The highlight is that the editor of the Hounslow Herald is looking into our issue.
We also need help in the following 2 ways so please email leaseholderworkinggroup@gmail.com or join the WhatsApp group at https://chat.whatsapp.com/IktPnu13lkjBkcUwL8muLO if you can help with either:
1i) Reaching out to the council and the opposition parties. We have contacted Ruth Cadbury MP (Labour), Peter Thompson (Conservatives, Leader of the Opposition in the Council) and the Liberal Democrats at info@hounslowlibdems.org.uk, but have received no reply. The Liberal Democrat email address seems out of date so please let us know if you have this information, or if you can help getting a reply from Labour or the Conservatives.
ii) Reaching out to more groups and media outlets. To date we have posted on Nextdoor and the Ealing Residents Against Low Traffic Neighbourhoods Group on Facebook, and contacted Brentford Nub News and Ealing News. If you have contacts in these two media outlets, or have other ideas on groups we can contact, please let us know.
2) Gaining more signatures. Our targets remain as below. Please continue to share the link (https://www.change.org/TrafficPain) and consider adding comments on the petition page, as these will give us more varied viewpoints to take to Hounslow and Ealing councils when we approach them.
Also, if you can help us by taking photos of the induced traffic, that will help us to build up proof and a map of badly affected areas. Please send them, along with which road they were taken on, to leaseholderworkinggroup@gmail.com with a subject line of “Traffic”.
Targets
451 signatures: we outnumber the previous total number of Hounslow residents opposing the restriction
750 signatures: we outnumber the previous total number of all residents opposing the restriction - Hounslow and Ealing
1000 signatures: a psychologically important number which councillors would find harder to ignore
8001 signatures: we outnumber Guy Lambert’s exaggerated number of emails requesting the restriction
Plan
Beyond the 2 main ways to help above, we are also considering various initiatives we can undertake to further publicise e.g. signage along affected routes and mail drops. If you can help with this, please join the WhatsApp group at https://chat.whatsapp.com/IktPnu13lkjBkcUwL8muLO Bear in mind that we started in a single road so without involvement from residents from all affected areas, we may not be able to extend signage and mail drops much further than Manor Vale and its surroundings in Brentford.
Finally, we have had offers of donations for costs for the initiatives. To date there have not been any costs beyond time, but we may set up a crowdfunding account if there are significant monetary costs.
Many thanks!
