The Issue

On July 27, 2025, the Roblox experience: 99 Nights in the Forest, has been updated with the inclusion of many new features; however, one of these had caused an outrage upon release.

Since then, many updates have been made, along with the addition of new classes, and a talent system, yet this undesired feature still remains.

The offending feature is the Stock system. Every 24 hours, certain classes will be available for purchase, while others will not be available for purchase. The unavailability of certain classes can be remedied by rerolling the shop's inventory. All players are given a free reroll, but after that, subsequent rerolls require Robux, starting at 99 and increasing every subsequent reroll. However, there is no guarantee a player's desired class will be available for purchase after rerolling.

(Robux can be purchased using varying amounts of legal currency for increased Robux bounties.)

Many players in the 99 Nights in the Forest Discord Server have been vocal about their displeasure with this feature, as a forum titled "REMOVE STOCKS" has garnered many hundreds of reactions. An impressive number, as forums that receive a lot of attention usually tally below 100 reactions.

That suggestion had garnered over 1000 reactions, according to a YouTube short made by content creator Bucket, bringing attention to the collective displeasure players have expressed about the stock feature.

Why is this feature unwanted?

It's already difficult to purchase classes that cost a large amount of diamonds, which can also be purchased for Robux.

But the inclusion of Stocks adds an unnecessary paywall to cheaper classes,  making it difficult to buy with an amount of diamonds that can easily be obtained by playing the game for a few minutes.

It also makes working towards a single class more frustrating, forcing a player to wait anywhere from a day to several days just to obtain their desired class.

What makes this feature so frustrating if it exists in other Roblox experiences, such as Grow a Garden?

There are 4 ways you can obtain Diamonds in 99 Nights in the Forest without using Robux

  1. Reaching or surpassing 50 days or 99 days, which gives 2 and 3 diamonds, respectively.
  2. Opening chests around the map, which give 1 diamond regardless of chest rarity.
  3. Clearing Stronghold and opening the diamond chest, which rewards 5 diamonds
  4. Obtaining badges and claiming their rewards, some of which are only available for a limited time.

Assuming the player or players know what they're going, and they expertly navigate their survival, obtaining the 5 diamonds from reaching the 50 and 99 day milestones can easily take over an hour, maybe under an hour if their playing speed reaches the theoretical limit.

Clearing the Stronghold puts a 20-minute cooldown before players can attempt it again with increased difficulty. And a single attempt can already take several minutes.

Obtaining diamonds from chests found in the wild requires luck and skill, luck for the chance of getting rewarded, and skill to avoid dying. And there are plenty of things that can kill the player.

In short, the threat of death adds a layer of difficulty to obtaining an already lowly distributed currency. Grow a Garden can get away with it because the game's currency, Sheckles, is easy to obtain, as there are plenty of factors that can significantly boost the value of crops sold.

Who is impacted?

  • The children make up the majority of Roblox's player base.
  • Players who enjoy the game but do not wish to spend Robux on the game.

What is at stake?

  • Player Feedback is being ignored
  • Another beloved Roblox game becoming a soulless cash grab.

Why is now the time to act?

  • If the Stock system remains, it's another factor that already reinforces the fact that the developers don't care about what the players want, only what benefits the developers want, while letting them disregard their players.
  • The more children that see the 99 NITF Stock System, the more they'll believe that this is the precedent for monetization in future video games.

Thank you Bucket for being another YouTuber to call this out

Edits:

  • "The developers' ability to make money" being an answer to "What is at stake?" didn't sound like a convincing answer.
  • Children aren't the only ones who play Roblox, as there are older players who also enjoy the game
  • Feedback being ignored can boil over into violent retaliation
  • The inclusion of "What makes this feature so frustrating..." is to help convey the frustration players feel to those who've read the petition, but haven't played the game.
  • The developers doubled down and added a talent system, where players can gamble 60 diamonds to obtain a talent of any rarity, and 30 diamonds on subsequent rerolls. Talents are an additional perk classes can utilize; however, not all talents and synergies are equal.
  • Certain images were accidentally deleted in an attempt to add a new screenshot showing how the cost of rerolls increases.
