On March 22nd, 2025, John Antonelli and the Real Sports team made a decision that would change the way we would collect cards forever. For the ‘25 MLB season, all players would start with a cap of 200 rax, and to obtain more rax from said player, users would have to upgrade the card by using packs, trades, etc. However, this system is flawed in many ways.

For starters, it forces those who hit the cap to buy individual player packs or trade cards obtained from their general packs. This forces users to be on the app much more in order to generate income, and removes lots of passive income from the previous system. For people with jobs, school, or just flat out busy, this makes it much harder to obtain more rax in order to buy packs and/or grind a single player, rather than 100.

 While the change is bad for those already on the app, it is even worse for new users looking to get into rax and buying packs. While John promised to help thousands of new users with a free card of some sorts, none has been actually implemented. This means that new users must somehow get rax in order to buy a single player, let alone upgrade them given the cap, meaning that general cards can’t profit. 

While some may defend the decision to have a rax cap for new sports seasons, it hurts the fanbase of the app and forces new users to either spend more time or money on the app. The simple decision would be to revert all rax systems to the way they were during the 24-25 NBA, NHL, and NFL seasons. The goal of this petition is to raise awareness for both the fanbase of real, but also the developers such as John & Louis. To them, I hope if you’re reading this and see the signatures to please make a change for the greater good of your fanbase. This petition/pushback was bound to happen, but here it is in your face to let you know what we want as loyal users of the app.
