For over two painful years, my family and I, along with our neighborhood, have endured a troublesome resident who has not only disturbed our peace, but also resorted to physical assault against my son and myself. The safety and tranquility of our lives are continually under threat due to this neighbor's behavior.

According to data from the Bureau of Justice Statistics, 84% of people who reported being victims of assault knew their assailant, and the home is one of the most common places for these assaults to take place (Bureau of Justice Statistics, 2019). This statistic indicates that troublesome neighbors can indeed pose a significant risk. The constant fear and concern for our safety is not a situation any neighborhood or family should experience.

Our case is serious, and we are not alone. The New York Times in 2019 quoted a study stating that one in five Americans have had a serious problem with a neighbor, proving that our situation is far from unique.
