Remove the mobile number linkage requirement for APEPDCL consumers

Remove the mobile number linkage requirement for APEPDCL consumers
The Issue
I have been residing in a flat in Andhra Pradesh since December 2024, and as a consumer of electricity, I expect to be recognized and served efficiently as the rightful customer. However, the current requirement by Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) to manually link mobile numbers with SC Numbers causes unnecessary inconvenience for many like me.
The online service, which once simplified this process, is no longer available, leaving consumers with no option but to undertake cumbersome offline procedures. This situation has become especially burdensome for tenants like myself, who rent properties in the state. Despite paying our bills diligently for more than three months, we are hindered from fully utilizing the APEPDCL app and other online services.
The demand is simple: If a consumer has been paying bills consistently for over three months, their mobile number should be automatically linked with their SC Number. This will streamline processes, ensuring better accessibility to essential services provided by APEPDCL.
This issue not only affects individuals but also disrupts the broader community, hindering efficient communication between consumers and the power service provider. By implementing an automatic linkage system, the APEPDCL can bolster customer satisfaction, improve service quality, and reduce administrative burdens.
The lack of online support for mobile number linkage has disrupted the ease which digital services promise. Tenants, who frequently change residences, are worst affected, finding themselves locked out of essential features like online bill payment and consumption tracking.
We urge the APEPDCL authorities to reconsider the current policies and restore the online linking facility. In doing so, it will uphold the rights of consumers, simplify processes, and foster a consumer-friendly approach.
Sign this petition to support a move towards an efficient, hassle-free experience for all APEPDCL consumers in Andhra Pradesh.
