Remove the Glazers as owners of Manchester United
The Issue
I have been a loyal supporter of Manchester United since I was 4 years old. Now, at 38, my passion for this club remains unwavering. Manchester United has always been my first love in sports, a source of endless pride and joy. However, it deeply saddens me to see our beloved club mismanaged and the average supporter paying the price for this neglect.
The Glazers, who became owners of Manchester United through borrowed funds, have not only failed in their responsibility as custodians of our club but have driven it into alarming debt, soaring from £50 million to a staggering £1.3 billion. This financial mismanagement cannot go unnoticed or unchallenged. As shareholders and supporters, it is imperative that we hold the Glazers accountable for their actions and insist on their immediate removal.
Furthermore, they have extracted more than £1.2 billion from the club’s coffers, siphoning off funds which could have been reinvested into the club's growth and success. Instead, the money was diverted to their ventures in America, leaving Manchester United languishing while the Glazers profit. The owners' failure to reinvest any of their money into the club amplifies our dissatisfaction and highlights their lack of commitment to the club's success.
This is not right. We must call on the British government, the Premier League, and the English FA to intervene and ensure that the Glazers are forced to sell their stakes while remaining responsible for the debt they have accumulated.
It is time we take a stand for Manchester United and demand the change that acknowledges the heart and soul of Manchester: its fans. These actions are not just business oversights – they are robbery of our club's spirit and future.
Join me in demanding the removal of the Glazers. Let's reclaim our club, restore its financial health, and ensure it thrives under responsible ownership that respects and cherishes our history. Sign this petition to make your voice heard and save Manchester United from this dire predicament. Together, we can ensure the club’s legacy continues to inspire future generations.
