We are reaching out today as former and current staff members of the Humane Society of Schuyler County, a place very dear to our hearts. During our time there, we witnessed first-hand the dedication, love, and tireless work that the volunteers and staff pour into the lives of countless animals in need. However, it is with deep concern and regret that we are compelled to bring attention to issues that have arisen under the leadership of the current executive director, which threaten the welfare of these animals and the integrity of this esteemed institution.

In recent months, there have been multiple reports from staff and volunteers regarding mismanagement and a lack of transparency in decision-making processes which have led to a series of troubling outcomes. Morale among the team has visibly declined, and there is growing unrest about the direction in which the organization is headed. Multiple members of staff were forced to resign as a result of inaction. These changes have unfortunately translated into suboptimal conditions for the animals, with increased stress and insufficient care becoming more apparent. Recently, there has been an increase in safety incidents, and dogs have gotten hurt as a result of the mismanagement. Now is the time to intervene, before another animal gets hurt.

Additionally, financial misappropriations have been suspected by many, casting yet another shadow over the director's ability to lead effectively. Such issues not only hinder our immediate objectives but also tarnish the society’s reputation, risking future support from benefactors and community members who have long held this cause in high regard.

The board has been informed and provided proof of what is covered in this petition. Despite that, the current executive director has not been removed, suspended with pay, or anything. Unfortunately, more dogs have gotten hurt as a result, and they tried to cover it up.

To overcome these challenges, I propose the immediate removal of the current executive director. By appointing someone with a proven track record of effective leadership, transparency, and a genuine passion for animal welfare, we can ensure that the Humane Society of Schuyler County fulfills its mission efficiently and ethically.

The purpose of this petition is not to discredit the many years the director served dutifully at the Humane Society. It is simply to shed light on what has recently been unfolding over the course of the past couple years, and ensure action is taken despite the obvious bias that has been displayed. The staff did not want it to come to this, but we have been left no other options, as most if not all of the resources we have reached out to have expressed fear of retaliation if they do support our mission.

Let us press forward as a community committed to safeguarding the well-being of our beloved animals and the people who care for them. I urge those who value compassion and responsibility to join this call for change.
