This petition represents concerned citizens of Nibley who request the cement barricade be removed from 1200 West.  We are grateful for the bike lane and because of the road width we see this as a great safety measure in and of itself.  The barricade however, presents numerous problems which include but are not limited to: 

1. The narrowing of the road and opposing oncoming traffic is dangerous
2. Where the barrier begins poses a collision hazard.
3. The barrier eliminated parking for the city park.  
4. The barriers create the appearance of the road being "under construction" and not a completed community road.  
5. Winter snow removal will be less efficient
6. Children play on the barriers which is a liability to the city.  Additionally, this is a safety hazard as children are hidden from view and when climbing over are immediately in oncoming traffic. 
7. There is no shoulder to pull off the road in event of a broken vehicle, accident, emergency personnel, etc...)

The speed limit on this road doesn't constitute such extreme slowing measures.  Please maintain the 35mph speed limit and the new wide bike lane and remove the barriers.  Thank you.
