Journalism comes with a responsibility to the public, and that responsibility should include basic human decency, professionalism, and accountability. The things a reporter says and the way they choose to present themselves reflect not only on their own character but also on the news organization that gives them a platform. When an asshole makes tasteless, insensitive, and  deeply inappropriate comments, it can and should raises serious questions about their judgment and whether they are the right person to represent a news organization. A press badge should not give someone a free pass to disregard the impact of their words or treat serious subjects as opportunities for cheap attention.

Carroll need's to call on the Carroll news to take these concerns seriously, review the reporter’s conduct, and hold him accountable.  Carroll  deserves journalists who understand the weight of their platform and the importance of treating people and serious issues with respect.

This petition is a call for accountability, professional standards, and consequences when those standards are ignored. We urge the network to investigate this conduct and consider whether this reporter should continue in his position.
