My daughter was locked in a closet by a classmate; when she reported it to the teacher, she was met with laughter instead of concern. I, as a parent, approached the school multiple times to address this serious issue only to be met with threats from Superintendent Pittman. Instead of collaborating to rectify the situation, I was threatened with the involvement of the police and DSS, who could potentially take my daughter away due to unjustified statements she knew about my mental health. This situation has spiraled into a lengthy battle that I am committed to seeing through.

This is not an isolated case but rather indicative of a larger issue within the leadership of Newell schools. Numerous parents, students, and staff have reported similar instances of mistreatment and ethical violations by Superintendent Pittman. This includes intimidation tactics, neglect of serious student welfare issues, and overall disregard for the wellbeing of the Newell school community.

The leadership in our schools should foster a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment for our children.
