Thank you all for the overwhelming community support to date with this petition. Council Chambers were overflowing with concerned residents at regular Council meeting on February 6, 2024. We are pleased that Council voted 6-1 to listen to resident's concerns about this tent city in their meeting Agenda. We thank those councillors that were willing to listen. 

One councillor voted against providing a hearing/listening to resident's concerns on this issue at the meeting - this is unfortunate as residents deserve to be listened to by their elected officials and local government on matters as substantive as this growing squatters camp adjacent to the Squamish Estuary.

Council also voted in favour of officially receiving this petition. Well done to all supporters.

This is not the end of the matter but only the beginning. No actions have been outlined or taken that suggest the District's Bylaws will be enforced. There is no evidence that the dismantlement of this squatter's camp is in the works. 

This petition will remain live until the camp is gone - please share with friends and family and keep the pressure on the District of Squamish, BC Housing and Helping Hands until Squamish Tent City is removed!
