Remove Shelley Scott as Principal of Wandana Primary
The issue
We, the parents and members of the Wandana Primary School community, are calling for the removal of Shelley Scott from her position as Principal.
We believe serious concerns about student safety, bullying and the handling of incidents at the school have gone unanswered for too long. Parents should not have to repeatedly fight to have their children protected. Children deserve to attend school without fear of being bullied, harassed or physically hurt, and families deserve to have their concerns taken seriously.
We are also deeply concerned about the removal of valuable support programs for parents, including the ASD support group and regular parents’ group. These programs provided important opportunities for parents to connect, support one another and share experiences. Removing these supports has left families without valuable opportunities to build connections within the school community.
Communication from the principal has also been a significant concern. Parents have experienced poor communication, unanswered concerns and responses that have left them feeling dismissed rather than supported. There appears to be a lack of empathy, understanding and willingness to listen to families raising genuine concerns about their children.
We believe a school principal should foster a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for both students and families. Parents should feel comfortable approaching school leadership, knowing they will be listened to and treated with respect. Instead, many concerns remain unresolved, and confidence in the school’s leadership has been seriously affected.
We are calling on the South Australian Department for Education to remove Shelley Scott as Principal of Wandana Primary School and ensure that the concerns raised by families are properly investigated and addressed. We want leadership that prioritises student safety, values parent involvement, supports families and communicates with compassion and respect.
This petition is an opportunity for parents and community members who share these concerns to have their voices heard. Our children’s safety, wellbeing and the strength of our school community must come first.
