REMOVE SCRAPPER TRUCKS FROM NEIGHBORHOOD STREETS.

REMOVE SCRAPPER TRUCKS FROM NEIGHBORHOOD STREETS.
The Issue
I would like to share an incident that unfolded right outside my home, highlighting the danger residing in our streets. The culprit? Overloaded Class B Scrapper Trucks parked residential neighborhoods. One sunny day, my son and I were returning from the park when we crossed paths with a truck overloaded with scrap parked directly outside our residence. The unsecured load shifted, posing a serious danger to my toddler. Thankfully, we remained unharmed, but the potential consequences are chilling.
These trucks are not just an eyesore, but clear public safety hazards. Their presence decreases property values and continuously poses a risk to the residents of the area, particularly children. This situation further exacerbates the fears of unnecessary accidents waiting to happen.
Given these concerns, we propose a restriction on the parking duration of these trucks with a full cargo of scrap on residential streets to no more than 2.5 hours, and restrict parking completely between 7pm-9am. This timeframe allows drivers adequate rest, yet prevents the trucks from becoming fixed hazards in our communities.
In light of our experiences and shared concerns – we urge our local government to realize the urgency of this situation. Let's make our streets safe for everyone, particularly for our children. Please sign this petition to restrict the parking duration of fully-loaded Class B Scrapper Trucks on residential streets. Every signature brings us one step closer to safer neighborhoods.
