Remove Ryan Reynolds from Future Deadpool Films and Marvel Projects Due to His Misconduct

Remove Ryan Reynolds from Future Deadpool Films and Marvel Projects Due to His Misconduct
The Issue
We are calling on Marvel Studios, Disney, and all affiliated production partners to remove Ryan Reynolds from any future Deadpool films, spin-offs, and Marvel or related projects. This includes acting, producing, writing, or otherwise contributing to the franchise.
Reynolds has been widely embraced as the face of the Deadpool franchise, yet his record includes a series of deeply concerning incidents that should disqualify him from such a prominent and influential role—especially in a superhero franchise beloved by many children and teenagers.
Among the allegations and public reports:
- Arson: Reynolds has publicly admitted to setting a school on fire, and somehow laughed about this.
- Child coercion: Reynolds forced his young daughter to repeatedly recite highly inappropriate lines for a Deadpool film against her will, raising questions about his parenting judgment and use of children in entertainment.
- Assault of child co-star: He slapped child co-star Jesse James while filming an Amityville Horror movie.
- Sexual misconduct: He confessed to shoving co-star Olivia Wilde on a film set.
- Negligence as a producer resulting in death: Reynolds was a co-producer and co-writer on Deadpool 2, during which stuntwoman Joi Harris—the first Black female road racer—tragically lost her life due to serious safety failures. His public comments following the incident also failed to take his accountability or acknowledge the broader implications of the production’s oversight.
These actions, whether publicly acknowledged or glossed over, reflect a shocking disregard for human life, especially in regards to women and children, as well as safety, ethics, and integrity. Reynolds continues to profit from an industry that should uphold better standards, particularly for roles that shape public imagination and influence children.
This petition is about accountability, safety, and setting a standard for who gets to be a hero on-screen.
We urge Disney, Marvel Studios, and all future stakeholders to:
- Cease casting Ryan Reynolds in any Deadpool or Marvel-related films, TV content, or other projects.
- Ensure casting and production decisions reflect ethical standards and prioritize safety, especially for high-profile projects with some young audience members.
- Let’s send a message: superhero stories should not be fronted by individuals with long, troubling personal histories. We can demand better from our media—and the people who shape it.
