The Issue

I’m writing this as a concerned parent from Sylacauga, Alabama, who's tired of the unjust retaliation faced by parents who speak up for their children. A couple of years ago, I made a video about my daughter being bullied, and it went viral. The result? I was banned from school property for a year. This attempt to silence me only proves one thing: the Talladega County School System is more interested in protecting reputations than protecting our kids.

Recently, I received another formal notice banning me from school grounds after I criticized the principal of Bbcomer Elementary. My son was attacked, and it took the school nearly two hours to inform us, while my child sat bleeding and unattended. The administration failed to act responsibly, and rather than addressing these serious issues, they retaliated against me, a parent simply advocating for their children. I was unapologetic in voicing my concerns, yet my freedom of speech is being punished.

The system's focus seems to be on silencing rather than solving. How many more children need to suffer due to inadequate action on bullying? Retaliation policies against parents who speak out only discourage dialogue and parental involvement, further endangering our kids. Speaking out shouldn’t mean getting banned from the campus where your children attend school.

This petition is a call to the Talladega County School System and its administrators to remove policies that retaliate against concerned parents. It is crucial that those of us advocating for our children's well-being are not punished for raising our voices. Parents have a right to express concerns without the fear of being barred from their children's education spaces.

Sign this petition to show your support for free speech and parent advocacy. Together, we can demand accountability and ensure that school policies protect our children, not silence their advocates.
