Remove Registered Sex Offender from Riverdale for His Continued Crimes

The Issue

As residents of the neighborhood surrounding Greystone Avenue in Riverdale, The Bronx, NY, we live day-to-day with a chilling reality. A registered sex offender, Gregory Winters, is allowed to freely roam our streets, putting our neighbors, students of Manhattan College, and other innocent individuals at risk. Recent events have cast a darker shadow over our community; a fellow neighbor, an elderly female, has fallen victim to egregious assaults that have so far gone unprosecuted.

Although Winters is not legally on any lease, he has been seen trespassing multiple buildings, most shockingly even seen lurking in the lobby of one. His crimes extend beyond the offenses he is registered for as he is currently suspected of assault and grand larceny. These continuous breaches reflect not only a violation of his parole but an unchecked threat growing within our neighborhood.

In Riverdale, the sense of security is fast eroding with residents living in fear and anxiety. Despite the intense stress our community faces, these despicable violations have yet to receive the legal attention they warrant. We yearn for justice, for Susan M, for those unspoken victims, and for the countless innocent individuals living amongst an actively offending criminal.

It's time we called for immediate, decisive action against Gregory Winters. Not only on the charges of assault, grand theft, and violation of parole, but for the peace and safety of our home streets. We demand the city officials to arrest and convict him and ensure a long jail time.

Lend your voice to our fight for justice and safety in Riverdale by signing this petition. Together, we can remove the menace from our streets and restore the sense of safety that every neighborhood deserves.

UPDATE 9.17.24

Dear neighbors and friends:

We have done amazing work in 5 days!! This is gaining momentum and we are receiving positive feedback from the community. I am updating the post with more photos but most people have seen him wearing a bucket hat, tank top and shorts. IYKYK!!

A few more updates on what this petition is doing:

**Starting a dialogue with community affairs liaisons, local law enforcement and the Bronx County DA's office.

**Raising awareness and encouraging safe behaviors
Answering the questions of "what can we do?"

IF THIS INDIVIDUAL APPROACHES YOU OR TRIES TO ENGAGE, WALK AWAY AND CALL 911. WE HAVE BEEN ENCOURAGED TO REPORT ANY BEHAVIOR AS THREATENING.

The more incident reports there are, the more attention will be paid.

Our #1 Goal is to have him arrested, charged and convicted for the assault on Susan M and get him off our streets!
