Our school, a place that should be a haven for learning and growth, has become a shadowy, uncomfortable environment due to the presence of our Principal, Katherine Rodockor. Many of us dread going to school, not because we dislike learning, but because of the oppressive atmosphere currently cultivated under her leadership. She has transformed our lunch hour into an uncomfortable experience and created an environment that is more likened to a prison than a place of education.

This is not an isolated sentiment, but a shared grievance among multiple students in our school. We have raised our voices, written about our concerns in surveys, but our cries for change have fallen on deaf ears. It feels as though no one is listening, thus leaving us in a situation that impacts our school experience adversely.

School is supposed to be a sanctuary, a safe place where we are given the opportunity to grow, learn, and be ourselves without fear. According to the National School Climate Center survey, a positive school climate improves student learning, development, and well-being. Thus, it is evident that Ms. Rodockor's oppressive style of leadership is detrimental to our development and overall well-being.

We call upon the Board of Education at APS to take our concerns seriously and remove Principal Katherine Rodockor from her position at our school. The removal is absolutely necessary for the restoration of a positive learning environment where students can thrive.
