Remove Principal Damian “World” Perry

Remove Principal Damian “World” Perry

The Issue

We, as parents and the entire Martin Luther King, Jr. Senior High School community stand together in unity asking for the removal of Principal Perry. We are displeased and you should support this petition because as Principal, he is not providing an educational environment that supports ALL students, nor is conducive for staff to do what is needed to support students.

1. 144 students and counting have been removed from the school’s total enrollment this year. They were not removed following the board’s approved process for administrative transfer.

2. Most were given a plea type deal to either withdraw immediately without record of the offense or be taken through the expulsion process, most of us parents take the deal trying to protect the record of their child.

3. He is trying to lower the enrollment in order to fire staff members instead of building relationships with the staff he inherited.

4. Enrollment effects school dollars for educational resources, teachers and athletics.

5. The morale of the staff and student body is low in this bully, lone wolf type of culture.

6. Staff are afraid to speak out in fear of being dismissed so they have reached out to us parents, who have a voice and desire to be heard.

Teachers, parents and the community do not feel included in his vision. There seems to be division in the alumni. He only engages a certain group and have excluded others. As a former parent liaison, many parents and alumni have stopped visiting and giving back to the school because  of his thin-skin, narcissistic personality. DPSCD’s administration should own up and reconsider this decision, as this was not a good one.
