Community Petition Regarding Desert Paradise Detox & Rehab Facility

We, the undersigned residents of Shadow Acres in Palmdale, CA 93551, respectfully submit this petition to request the immediate review and relocation or removal of the Desert Paradise Detox & Rehab facility currently operating at 2124 West Ave O8, Palmdale, CA 93551 and represented
online at  https://desertparadisedetoxandrehab.com
While we understand and support the importance of addiction recovery resources, we strongly believe that this facility is not appropriately situated within a residential neighborhood due to the following serious concerns:

1. Public Safety: On April 22, 2025, law enforcement was called to the facility. This incident has raised alarm among families and neighbors, especially those with children.

2. High-Risk Detox Services in a Family Area: According to the facility's own website, they treat individuals detoxing not only from alcohol and prescription medications, but also from substances such as cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, and methamphetamine. While we support recovery efforts, we believe that treating high-risk substance abuse this close to family homes and children is not appropriate. These substances present a heightened risk for unpredictable behavior, medical emergencies, and potential criminal activity.

3. Lack of Community Notification or Consent: The facility appears to have opened and operated without adequate notice or input from the surrounding community.

4. Increased Traffic and Loitering: Residents have noticed a significant increase in traffic and unfamiliar individuals loitering in the area.

5. Zoning and Land Use Concerns: We request clarification on whether the facility is compliant with zoning laws for this residential area.

6. Impact on Property Values and Neighborhood Stability: The presence of such a facility can impact property values and disrupt neighborhood cohesion.

We request that city officials:
- Investigate the April 22 police incident and any other disturbances related to the facility.
- Review the licensing, zoning, and permitting of Desert Paradise Detox & Rehab.
- Host a public forum to allow community members to voice their concerns.
- Consider relocating the facility to a more suitable area.
We believe in compassionate recovery and support proper care for those struggling with addiction -but not at the cost of the safety and stability of our neighborhood.

Sincerely,
