Remove option for takeaways to turn driver tips off on Foodhub

The Issue

I work at a takeaway as a delivery driver, most of us are classed as self employed so takeaways, Uber eats and justeat can maximise profits and not have to pay holiday or sick pay even if injured on the job(we have to deliver all weathers, ice snow rain or shine). customers assume we get the full delivery money but sadly this isn’t always true. I know drivers that get nothing per delivery, and others that get full delivery as they should. Customers often want to tip us, but only have card. Working with the platform developers this was made possible, sadly they gave takeaways the option to opt out of letting drivers be tipped, even though it costs the takeaway nothing. As the takeaway makes nothing from it they haven’t turned it on, or if they have been on as in one instance I know they have called up to turn it off numerous times. The excuse people can tip cash doesn’t work, most people now don’t use or carry cash hence why they pay online but often tell drivers they wish they could have tipped by card. Giving the driver tips is a huge help, fuel costs are the start of a drivers cost. Food insurance costs an average 10 times more than standard business use, repairs are £49ph plus vat and parts around here, a new tyre over £90, the odd tip means so much to your driver.

Please show support for our delivery drivers and get the takeaways to turn on the option to tip drivers by card up and down the country or Foodhub to remove the option for takeaways to turn them off so CUSTOMERS can choose if they want to show their appreciation.

Remember, tips are optional, no one is forcing customers to tip. Foodhub just added the OPTION to tip if WE want to. Foodhub have also confirmed there is NO extra cost to the takeaway at present meaning the only reason a takeaway would leave it off or go through the effort of calling up to turn it off is unjust, especially when SOME takeaways don’t even give the driver all of the delivery fee.
