This petition is born out of a deeply personal and distressing experience. An officer in our community named Arturo Cruz has repeatedly demonstrated corrupt behavior, causing harm to myself and others. He has been dishonest, exhibited racist tendencies, and broken the laws he swore to uphold. Despite numerous complaints (see Pomona facebook page for personal stories from several people in our city who has encountered this officer) lodged against him over the years, no action has been taken.

This officer's actions are not only unethical but also detrimental to our community's trust in law enforcement. According to a 2019 study by Pew Research Center, only 33% of Americans believe that law enforcement officials are held accountable for misconduct (Pew Research Center). This lack of accountability further erodes public trust and makes it harder for law-abiding officers to do their jobs effectively.

We cannot allow this corruption to continue unchecked in our city. It is time for us as a community to stand up against such behavior and demand change from those who have sworn an oath to protect us.

We call on the relevant authorities in Pomona City Council and Police Department leadership: remove this corrupt officer from his position immediately. We deserve better; we deserve justice.
