The Issue

Reevaluate Monaco’s Place in Modern Formula 1 Racing

We, the undersigned F1 fans and supporters of competitive motorsport, respectfully request the removal of the Monaco Grand Prix from the Formula 1 calendar.

While we recognize Monaco’s rich history and prestige in the sport, it has become increasingly clear that the circuit no longer suits modern Formula 1 racing. The narrow streets, tight corners, and outdated layout were designed for a different era — one that did not feature cars as wide, fast, and advanced as those we see today.

In its current state, Monaco offers virtually no room for overtaking, resulting in processional races that lack excitement, strategy, and on-track action. Today’s race demonstrated this clearly: zero overtakes occurred on track unless aided by pit stops or incidents. When the highlight of a Grand Prix is a formation lap to the finish, something is fundamentally wrong.

Formula 1 is about pushing the limits of speed, engineering, and driver ability — not parading through a city gridlock. Monaco simply cannot deliver the racing spectacle that fans expect and that the sport deserves.

We urge the FIA and Formula 1 leadership to prioritize circuits that offer real racing, overtaking opportunities, and modern infrastructure. Let’s preserve the spirit of competition and excitement that defines Formula 1.

Sincerely,

Formula One Fans
