Growing up, I was taught that certain bathroom products are specifically meant for women. It's something that was always clear to me: women’s menstrual items belong in women’s bathrooms, not men’s. I find it troubling that here in San Diego, men’s bathrooms are starting to carry these products, causing discomfort and confusion among many.

This is not an isolated sentiment. Many boys and men have expressed discomfort knowing that these specific products are present in spaces where they shouldn't be. The bathroom is supposed to be a place where everyone feels comfortable and secure.

It's important to respect the sanctity of separate spaces for men and women. By placing women’s menstrual products in men’s bathrooms, it leads to unnecessary confusion and discomfort. There's no denying the need for inclusivity and understanding, but it shouldn't come at the expense of others' comfort.

A realistic solution is to focus on ensuring that all individuals have access to the necessary facilities that align with their biological needs. Men’s bathrooms should not be required to stock women-specific products, especially considering the concerns raised.

In San Diego, we can forge a path that respects the comfort and needs of all its residents. We should work towards alternative solutions that cater to the unique aspects of different gender needs without blurring the lines of traditional boundaries.
