As a woman and the mother of two daughters, I was profoundly disturbed and offended by Megyn Kelly's recent remarks suggesting that the severity of abuse towards a 15-year-old girl is less than if she were 5 years old. These words are not only despicable but also harmful, and they certainly do not reflect the values we hold dear in our school and community in Bethlehem.

The Bethlehem Hall of Fame should be a symbol of honor and inspiration, showcasing individuals who demonstrate exceptional character and uphold the ethics and integrity we wish to instill in future generations. Megyn Kelly's comments, which seem to minimize the gravity of abuse based on age, contradict these principles. Her presence in our Hall of Fame undermines the very essence of what it means to be an exemplary role model.

Every community member, especially parents and guardians, should feel assured that those honored in such spaces truly embody respect and compassion for all individuals, regardless of age. It is vital for us to stand united against any form of rhetoric that normalizes, excuses, or downplays abuse.
